Our standards

• Respect others. No harassment, hate speech or bullying.
• No inappropriate content. No nudity, sexual content or explicit behaviour — on camera or in text. Sexually explicit messages, and requests or offers for nudes or sex, are blocked automatically and are never delivered.
• No spamming. No floods of messages, advertising or self-promotion. Copy-pasted promotion, links and phone numbers sent to strangers lead to a ban.
• No dodging a ban. Do not return with a new browser, a VPN or another network after being banned.
• Nothing illegal. Do not engage in or promote illegal activity.
• Privacy matters. Do not share personal information, yours or anyone else's, and never attempt to identify or locate another user.
• No recording. Do not record or redistribute someone without their consent.
• Adults only. Do not use Anyeria if you are under 18, and report anyone who appears to be a minor.

Where these rules apply

Everywhere on Anyeria, in every mode — not only in a one-to-one chat:

• Video, audio and text chat — random pairings, interest matching, and chats with friends or past partners.
• Spectator mode, where one person watches two strangers discuss their question. The rules apply to all three of you, including the person watching: reporting and blocking work in every direction, and a spectator's emoji reactions are as answerable as anything said out loud.
• Voice rooms, including scheduled rooms and any room you were invited to by a shared link.
• Games, watch together, live captions and shared media— a GIF, a drawing or a video you put in front of somebody is content you are responsible for. GIFs can only be sent from GIPHY's rated library; uploading your own is not possible.

Reporting and blocking

Please report people who break these rules. Every chat, every voice room and spectator mode has a report button, it takes one tap, and it is anonymous — the person is never told who reported them. Reporting is the single most useful thing you can do, and it is what our moderation is built on.

A report asks what happened and lets you add your own words. It carries the last few messages of that conversation, attached by our server from what it actually relayed rather than by your browser, so a report cannot be invented and does not depend on you copying anything down. In a video chat you can also attach a still of the other person's camera, taken at the moment you pressed Report; it is shown to moderators only and deleted after 30 days. Reports about someone who appears to be under 18 go to the front of the queue.

You can also block someone. A block is permanent and works both ways: you will never be put together again anywhere on Anyeria — not as a random match, not in a voice room, and not in spectator mode, whichever of the three roles either of you is in. It is tied to the browser rather than to the network address, so blocking one person on a shared mobile network does not make everybody else on it disappear.

How moderation works

Several things run at once, and none of them depends on a human being awake:

• The chat filter. Messages are checked as they are sent. Slurs and abuse are filtered, links and phone numbers are blocked, and three filtered messages in a day is a seven-day ban. Sending messages faster than about eight in ten seconds is a ban as well. There are no mutes.
• Explicit-message blocking. Before a line reaches the other person it is checked for sexually explicit content, including when letters are swapped, masked, stretched or spaced out, and in Hinglish and Devanagari. An explicit line is never delivered. This applies to one-to-one chat, spectator mode and its questions, voice-room text and live captions, and to the interests you type. Captions are machine-transcribed, so they count for less than typed text.
• Automatic checks. Messages are also passed through an AI moderation check, and a flagged line is pulled back off every screen it reached. Video chats are sampled and checked the same way: a share of chats are checked, and every chat with someone who has been reported or is in the low-trust group is. A chat that has looked fine for a minute or so stops being checked.
• The review queue. Reports are ranked by how serious the category is, how many separate people have reported that person, and their history — and a moderator works through them in that order. Automatic suspensions, such as anything that suggests a minor, wait there for a person to confirm.

Automatic decisions can be wrong. Every automatic ban shows its reason, can be appealed, and a moderator can mark it as a false positive, which lifts it and takes the strike back.

Chats themselves are not recorded. What is kept is the handful of recent lines described above, held in memory and dropped within fifteen minutes if nobody reports anything. If an automatic ban is issued, the few lines that caused it are attached to the report for a moderator.

What happens to rule-breakers

• Reports are recorded against the reported connection.
• Flooding and spam behaviour — sending messages too fast, or skipping chat after chat within seconds — are bans as well, of at least 24 hours.
• Anyone reported by five different people is banned automatically, without waiting for a human to look.
• Moderators can issue a warning you have to acknowledge, or a ban of one hour, 24 hours, seven days or permanent — stepping up with each further offence.
• Sexually explicit or abusive messages are blocked every time, and sending one is a ban. The first such ban is seven days, and a repeat is permanent. Anything sexual involving a minor is an immediate permanent ban and goes to a moderator.
• Nudity on camera earns a warning on your own screen the first time. A second detection, seen by a different person, is a ban (seven days, permanent for a repeat).
• Spam — copy-pasted promotion, links and phone numbers — is a ban, permanent for a browser. On a shared network address it is seven days, so one person's ban does not lock out everyone on the same mobile network.
• Coming back after a ban. Clearing your browser data does not reset a ban, a block or a report: your device is recognised and they stay in force. A new browser arriving from a network that a banned person recently used starts out in the low-trust group, is kept out of voice rooms, and has to confirm it is human much more often, until it has earned trust. Banned VPN and datacenter addresses are banned as well.
• Serious violations are banned immediately on review. Bans are enforced against the browser and the network address, not an account, because there are no accounts.
• A banned user can see only the ban page, which says why and for how long, and cannot reach the chat.
• Behaviour also costs you the Trusted badge and the ability to meet people who have chosen trusted-only mode. Accounts under suspicion are matched among themselves.
• A voice room can vote someone out by majority, which keeps them out of that topic for 15 minutes. One person alone can never do this.

If you think a ban was wrong you can appeal from the ban page, and a moderator will look at it again. An accepted appeal lifts the ban and removes the strike, so it does not count against you next time.

Misusing reports

Reporting somebody because you disagreed with them, or organising reports against one person, is itself a breach of these rules. Reports from accounts we do not trust are kept for moderators but do not count towards an automatic ban.

Child safety — zero tolerance

Anyeria is for adults only. You must be 18 or older to use it, and you confirm this before your first chat.

• Anyone who appears to be under 18 is banned, whatever they claim.
• Sexual content involving a minor, grooming, or attempts to arrange contact with a minor lead to an immediate permanent ban.
• We preserve what we hold about such an incident — the connection address and time, and the report — and report it to India's National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (cybercrime.gov.in) and, where it applies, to NCMEC's CyberTipline.
• We respond to lawful requests from law enforcement.

Use the report button in the chat, then email us with URGENT in the subject. You can also report directly to cybercrime.gov.in or by calling 1930 in India.
